New to this site but looking for some guidance on my FJ; I've had the vehicle since 2003 and my starter's gone out; I was told by the previous owner that the engine was out of a 1969 FJ so I would assume that I need a starter replacement for a 1969? Sounds like a dumb question (I know) but when I check prices, the starter for a 67 in in the $150-$250 range while the starter for a 69 is around $75. Just struck me as odd so thought I may need to check with some of the experts. I appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance for the review.

My advice is take it to a shop and have it rebuilt. Probably cheaper and the shop will probably offer a warranty.

TOYOTA ONLY re-uses the ALUMINUM cases

some times there NEW also ....

depending if they meet there tight spec's ...

you can't obtain a BETTER STARTER then a Genuine NIPPONDENSO for your Land Cruiser

bottom line

- if the original OEM starter was a NipponDenso ?

and lasts many dozen years in many cases

why would you even think to take your old one off and have new brushes installed and re-install it ?

common sense here rules the day ..

Thanks for the info; it's not an original starter but I would be interested in getting the NIPPONDENSO you recommended. Do you have one for a 1969 engine?
