I have a spare FJ40 that I am considering selling. There's another project that I'd like to start on but I either finish (still need to start first) this one or sell it...space limitations are a bitch.

1967 which is in amazing shape (considering). Close to complete and stock (minus the very early Downey manual steering conversion and JT Outfitters front disc conversion). About as 'rust free' as you can get, this side of the Mississippi! Bring the patina to the party and watch the ladies swoon. The color is also guaranteed to brighten you're wife's/spouse's day! See here for my build thread - Lemonade - 1967 FJ40

Pic album here --> lemonade Most are pre powerwash from when I brought it home.

The good: very solid, close to complete and these oldies are just too cool!
The bad: does not currently run or have brake lines (soft or hard) on the axles. Driver's side door window glass currently busted/broke/all jacked up but I have a spare.

Since purchasing, I have pulled the front and rear driveshafts, skid plate, plugs (squirted marvel mystery oil in each cylinder, pulled valve cover and hit over half the hardware with kroil. Truck has been either stored inside my shop or in my driveway under a tarp.

Items of note: I do not have a NC title for this vehicle. One can be fairly easily acquired for NC and I am available to assist (via a bonded title - adds an extra 100 bucs and some time to the normal titling process). The previous owner never titled the vehicle (6 years of ownership). I do have the title which was signed over to the previous owner by the previous owner.

Price: can be acquired one of two ways...
1. As is where is (could help deliver for a small fee) = $6,000.00 US dollars
2. Truck plus a literal s***-ton of parts = $12,500.00 US dollars. This is over $7,500 in parts (not including shipping)...do the math and you get the truck ~17% cheaper with option #2 (hint: use this logic when convincing your spouse of this purchase).

I give u props for taking the time for a very thorough ad/pics!

About how much space is needed for all the parts? Trying to guess at trailer size required...

Since most of these parts are smaller, I'm betting they could be transported inside the 40 (some strategic packing required). The largest of these would be the 5 oem steel wheels and the box from SOR containing the seat covers/foam.

Plus the spare axle which shouldn’t go in the truck!

Thanks to both of you! The upside here is that if it doesn't sell, then I'll be 'forced' to build/refresh it myself.
Ok, you heard the man. Nobody buy this truck. The man wants to finish it! Give him some space!

Funny you point this out. If it's still around in a week or so then I plan at least start on it!

Not _so_ funny. I'm in a similar boat. You know you want to. Unplug and don't charge your phones. Don't check MUD or your e-mail.
Just go stand in your shop. Close your eyes. Breath deep the crisp air scented with hydrocarbons. The right decision is there. :wrench::hmm::wrench:

Yeah...I'm in a scenario where my day job which supports my hobby doesn't allow me enough time to enjoy my hobby as much as I'd like...but then I couldn't afford my hobby if it wasn't for my day job...first world conundrums (errr...problems) for sure!

This is so beautiful, I wept when I read it.

:)

My work here is done.

Update on my '$8k Seattle Cruiser', which I have been similarly waffeling on. Friends in France have a 70's vintage FJ40, that they are the original owners of. They've toured the deserts of N. Africa, and took me wheeling in the French Alps a few years ago, getting me started on this path. They're coming to visit the NW in August. Just asked if they'd like to go out with Stella and Miss Kitty (aka the green and the red one). They sounded excited, and so I now have a goal, two finely tuned rigs by August. I've been waffeling on what to do with the '68, but now I know.

Can you hear her? She is calling, and Adventure is her name.
