I own a stock 1966 FJ-40 and the engine runs OK but needs some attention. Head gasket has a small leak (bubbles seeping out on passenger side).

MAF sells some E-72 flat top pistons but I thought these had domed pistons.

Toyota computers only go back to 69 so I have not had any luck dealing with dealerships.

Questions:

Did 66 use flat top or domed pistons?

Where can I source gaskets for a 66 FJ-40?

I am hoping to just do a top end rebuild but want to know I can get parts if I get it opened up.

'66 has flat top pistons.

'66 is a transition year for head gaskets. Do you have the siamese port F135, or the standard port F145? Either way, I have head gaskets for both if you have problems locating them.

Great - thanks for the info Mark. I will call you when I am ready.

I do not know for sure what kind of intake it is. I think it is a 135 but I will check.
