I have a leed on a retrofitted disc brake axle, but it is off a 1966 cruiser. I have a 1971, and the brake kit will not fit my year. Is the 1966 a ball and claw axle or to they have the coarse spline birfs like my 71? Any help would be awesome, I need to get my braking situation improved....

Not sure how often they come up in your area, but I would not waste my time with pre 1969 axles. Very hard to repair if they start leaking oil, or the ball and claw brakes etc. I was determined to keep my axles on my 1962 fj40, but once I found oil leaking into the front drum and a lot of research and feedback from the experts here I knew I needed post 1968 axles. I would have even been fine with drum front axles if from the 70's since I could fix them if they had problems. Luckily some 1977 axles came up on CL a few hours from the house. FJ40 parts are few and far between in my neck of the woods.

Think im gonna pass

I guess I'll try to put a mini truck disc swap together,,,
