Hi guys
Just got my 45 LWB and it needs the rear wheel brake cylinders. Eventually I want to go disk but want to limp it for awhile with shoes. need something that will work. Question will later cylinders work your input would be much appreciated.
Best Skip Landon

With all my builds over the years I always had the cylinders bored with stainless inserts fitted. The normal cost downunder is $50 a cylinder

If I recall they have that smaller brake line fitting. I should have a few sitting around if you want them. Just pay shipping. I think I put rebuild kits in them then decided to go disk.

does it actually need cylinders or can you just rebuild them. rebuild kits are only about $6. run a hone through the cylinder and assemble with the new parts and you'll be good to go

The cylinders are toast rusted, however I have been given a set of 79 rear backing plates complete so the non availability is not an issue any more. THANKS GUYS

you will need to make new rear brake lines to go to 10mm at the cylinder with the later model cylinders, shouldn't be bad tho...try to rob all the lines from the 79 axle

Many TNX
Yes I have all the lines on the backing plate and will only have to do minimal new to make it work. The big job will be to take the axles out which is only time, be a good excuse to check the bearings and put new gaskets in along with new fluid. I will also be changing all the fluids through out so I know where I stand. My thought is to change them then come back in a short time and drain and reinstall, then I know things will be good and clean and ready to go. Again TNX for your input....;)

If your going to rebuild your cylinders...I would go disc now...your stuff is 9mm which is hard to find ..rather than waste the $$s just do the swap....Brackets are available thru POSER

Thank-you to all that gave me their insite, I was able to get some complete backing plates off a 79 complete with drums. TNX Miker for the help and time extracting these from your treasure chest. I will be installing them and getting my 45 on the road soon.

Do the axle bearings while you're in there; you'll need them regardless of drum or disc and they are surely overdue by now.

Best
