With much hesitation I am selling my 65 fst 40. I dont have a ton of history, but this is what I do know. This was a one owner california truck sold new in Redwood City, CA. ( I was born in Redwood City. It was used mostly for towing behind an RV and was told alot of the miles( 91k original) were from towing. It still retains its original black plates from new. The inside of the glovebox has the dealer sticker from the redwood city dealer.The .grandson of the original owner inherited it and sold it to a fellow who sold it to me. It is a super solid survivor, never restored daily driver. It is an original red fst 40, with a factory installed pto winch ( works perfect) At some point it received a repaint in its original red, probably 30 years ago, so it has great patina without being super old faded paint. It also got a later f engine( 69) from a low mileage firetruck that spector offroad used to import in the early 90’s. It runs super strong, best pulling f engine I have ever felt. Stock 3pd, converted to a floor shift. Otherwise a very original unmolested california survivor. Pretty much everything works and functions. Both tnk wipers park as they should, choke cable works, horn works, correct mirrors,nothing crusty or frozen! The steering wheel is mint with no cracks! ( very rare for a softtop). All dash knobs correct and present,correct red seatbelts, jack rods in there clips, original tailgate chains with there covers, original rk3 spare tire. Seats are all nice, no rips or tears,The list goes on. Factory softtop doors are very nice, with both door limiters intact. Bows are in nice shape as well. Front windshield vent functions perfectly. New ndt millitary tires on oem rims With new repro acorn hubcaps. Correct small taillights still retained in there original brackets. I have baselined the fluids, inspected the brakes, new shocks, hub caps, tires. It really has been kept in great shape all these years. It is ready to enjoy, with a few small things needed. The pto ujoints have play, the pto seal leaks gear oil, heater intact and fan blows, but not hooked up to the heater hoses( possible heater core, but have not checked it for leaks. 97% of this truck is rust free, floors are perfect, wheel wells perfect, rear bed great. The only issues are the drivers rocker at the b pillar has some rust and parts of the rear sil have some rust coming thru the paint.( I think the rear sil has some filler from the repaint in the 90’s and the rust is coming back. Note that the rear sil from behind looks solid so the rust is superficial and just needs to be repaired with some small patch panels. The tub underneath shows original black paint and is incredible as well as the frame, california truck at its best! I have a repro black canvas 5 window top( will put it on soon for pics). Also have an older white top that needs windows and some zippers repaired. Currently registered, insured and hold a clean california title in my name. Asking 21k located in sunny califorina 94074.
