Checked the frame for alignment. Then out for a media blast and epoxy primer.

Welded up the Saginaw box conversion. Georg's Fab guy Ryan Apple did the hard work. He cut the side plates on his plasma table and stitched her all up. The front fork horns had not seen a good life and needed help. The additional bracing will put her back in form.

I had to share a bit of coolness! I purchased all of the SS pin sets from SMG. But alas he did not currently manufacture the tailgate pins. I asked him and he mentioned that he thought about making them. I sent him one my hinges and Voila here they are.

HOW TRICK!!!

He made a button hex head pin and tapped the end for a matching button hex head. He included the clear plastic protectors and the SS hardware. I think this is a very sharp setup. Makes it alot easier to paint..

Gotta love the sticker!

Thanks Steve for taking on the challenge of making these SS pins for my SWB 45 tailgate hinges. I know others will consider them a "have to have item".

Cheers

I like the sticker more than the pins, I can still quote lots of lines from that movie, 35+ years after seeing it.

They are hard to find they were made for the pakistan army. I found mine in oregon after looking for years, they are out there but hold on to your wallet when you find one
@TeamJB
Junaid sent me a very nice one split windshield. His international shipping costs are reasonable or included in his price quote. So windshields are pricy to start with, and the premium for this route is mayby 2 or 3 times that. The glass rarely survives shipping but one of my panes did, but then I broke it. :(
@andybudge reproduced the rubber seals.

x2 on JB, always fair. I think these split windows are just too cool. JB found one for me that needs a little work but would love to put it on one of my 25s at some point!!

Getting things moving in a positive direction. Getting the axle housings ready for powder coat and reassembly.

Just got back from Georg's. Got the axles already to install. Have disc brake setup for the rear. 60's knuckles up front. Can't wait to get this project rolling on tires.

Working on getting the axles installed. Started wotking from the front of the frame making sure that all the bushings and what-not would fit. Cleaned out the powder coating from the threads and mating surfaces. But than I got a curve ball thrown at me. Turns out he rear frame bushing housing is 30 mm and OME only supplies a 25 and 35 mm bushing. Could not locate one so I decided to work with what I had and reduce the 35 mm to fit. I put the grease journals back too.

In other words, you reinvented the wheel.

AFAIK, SOR is the only source for that 30mm bushing.

What I should have said is I was looking for a 30 mm OME bushing. I wanted to stay with all similar bushing color/vendor.

Things are starting to come together. Got the motor, 5 speed and transfer case installed. Big shout out to Georg at Valley Hybrid in Stockton.

That left rear engine mount looks like it’s straining under the load Kevin. I think I’d be looking at fabbing a saddle mount to put under the trans.

I’ve ran mine the same way for about 7 years now and no issues. I thought the mounts wouldn’t take the abuse, but I drive my 40 like I stole it and nothing but smiles.

Ever hear the expression ’just because you can, doesn’t mean you should’?

Not once but twice I have had customers come in complaining about clutch problems and gotten under their trucks to find a cracked bellhousing.

It happens. YMMV.

I wouldn’t do it. And I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend. And Kevin is a friend. You can do whatever you want Casey; you are not a friend.

Thanks Mark, I was looking at that. I just set it in the cradle. Going to check into it.
