Hi, Just got back into a cruiser again after selling the 80 last year, or actually an LX470. Came with some wheels that are not really my taste. Have found both the regular Tundra 18" wheels and TRD wheels for sale locally that will bolt right up but am having difficulty deciding. Figured I would see what some of you though of each. On a side the TRD's come with BFG Rugged trail's and the regular ones come with Goodyear wrangler AT/S's and both are near new takeoffs. The truck is pearl white.
Thanks,
Ali

I have the standard Tundra 18s (right pic) on my LC. They work and look great. Paid $400 for wheels and tires.

They do bolt right up but realize that the center caps that come with the Tundra wheels do NOT fit over the LC (or LX470) front hubs. I had to use the center caps from my old LC wheels - color matches perfectly.

Definitely the ones on the --->

thanks guys, I also kind of like the normal ones better, wow $400 is quite a deal these guys are $550 maybe I need to look around some more.

I just looked at the ebay invoice again. I paid $430 plus $100 shipping for wheels and tires with about 5k miles on them. Worked out perfect.

I like the standard Tundra wheels on the right. I found a set of TRD wheels for $200, so I mounted my silent armors and will be changing my snows out tomorrow. I'll post some photos.

hmmm... I just had some KMC chrome wheels powdercoated for $240. My sliders are being done for $120, should I send these wheels too??

BendFJ. thanks for the pics. I agree that the design of the regular wheel is a bit better but in my case with the pearl white I think the polished TDR wheel might look good also. I have a few more days to decide but man its tough.

Just remember that you will have to find matching hubcaps that fit the TRD rims and work with the larger LC front hubs.

Nice! Do you know the offset or backspacing of those wheels? From the pics, it looks like they stick out a bit.

please correct me if I am wrong as this could be an issue but from what I read the original LX470 ones I have can be modified to fit these. is this not accurate?

Not sure about the LX470 caps fitting. I used caps from my 2003 LC for the standard Tundra 18" alloys.

You could just take one of the LX caps to your Toyota dealer and see if they will fit a Tundra with TRD wheels.

ha.....I just put them up against the factory rims. I had planned to swap the wheels out today but my lug lock key was left at Metal Tech. I promise to post some photos tomorrow when I get them officially mounted.
I'll get you the offset as well.

so picked up the TRD wheels this afternoon and went to put them on to find out the crappy aftermarket lug nuts that were on the LX dont work. Dealer wanted $10 a pop. Luckily called Irbis Offroad who used to work on my 80 and he has a set for quite a bit less. Guess I have to wait till tomorrow to get them on. But have to say when I had one on the car it looked pretty sharp. I kind of like the fatter monoblock look on such a big car. Will report back with propper pictures once installed. Thanks again for all the help.

Ali,
I guess you don't need photos since you probably installed your TRD wheels today...

Here are some blackberry photos. Some with and without the LC stock hub cap. I have my 275 silent armors on for now. My tundra 285 bfg's will be going on soon when I replace the tire and wheel setup on it.

thanks for the pics, unfortunately he had the wrong lugs but am getting some from someone else later this evening and will probably wait till friday to put them on as I have decided to also do the front brake pads as I noticed they were pretty low. Only other issue I have on the truck which was know before I bought it was the front diff pinion seal is leaking. Lexus quoted me $195 for the job but was wondering how hard is it to do myslef. Have you had any experience with this?

Thanks,
Ali
