This weekend I FINALLY had time to get wheels swapped... as you might remember from an earlier thread.

I decided to go with 17" stock Toyota 4runner/etc. rims and Nitto Grappler 295/70/17. Note the suspension is stock but I'm patiently saving for an upgrade.

The ride is very similar to stock - I've SLIGHTLY noticed the knobbier tire at highway speeds - overall there is no response difference yet i.e. braking, turning, etc.. The rain/snow/mud terrain has yet to be tested.

Center caps need to be ordered soon, so far best price is $24 ea. think CDan can beat that?

Here are some teaser pics:

Nice.

I like it. Where did you find the rims? Wrecker? How much did you pay? What years of the 4Runner will the rims fit on the 80? Good job!

Hmmm. Not diggin' the 4runner wheels. The factory wheels from 93-97 are the only ones which look way cool to me. IMO

It's your truck, glad you like 'em!

I'm glad I didn't title this thread: Best Looking 80! :flipoff2:

They actually look really good in person, more importantly I like the handling better.

All four rims where cheaper than one tire so good deal no matter what your cruiser facade choice.

Again, the primary reason for new rims was due to the bad condition of the originals.

Anyway, I was messing with Fireworks (err Photochopping) and think a 1" lift will get things looking a lot better, even tho I really only care that it'll drive better.

Tire shop had them left over from a swap, paid < $200 but unfort. no center caps.

They look good to me. The price is good too.
It is hard to beat the stock look tho.

It looks nice with the "lift".
The bottom line is that it is your ride and your rims...and it was still somewhat of a free country last time I checked....

Enjoy !!!!

Looks good. Similar to my FJ Crusier wheels

Here's a picture someone posted about a year or so ago....

Your LC, but I would not bother with the center caps!

looks good, but i think itll look even better with some wheel spacers to push them out a little more. maybe 1.5" spacers.

Is the back spacing the same as the stock wheels? Do your tires now sit further inboard or outboard compared to stock?

I never measured but they look to sit in a little more than stock.

Wheels spacers are an option but I'm trying to stay away from putting extra stress on the wheel bearings. I may reconsider once the front axle is serviced.

Right now the BIG QUESTION is what springs to go with??????

I'll def. be getting Bilstein shocks just need to find a spring that will mate well in the 1"+- range.

Looks good!
