Has anyone fit 15's on 80 axles. I have heard with trimming of the caliper on the rear you can fit em. But I can't find a write up of how to do it and what wheels it works with and what it doesn't. IE steel only or aluminum, and what backspacing.

So you just need steel wheels with 3.5" backspacing? I guess I can't find any how-to's on grinding the caliper either.93 & up have the rear disc brakes. There is plenty of threads that go over this subject.
I have read that if you go with steal wheels & 1" spacers you will be fine. Or same as 3.5" back space on the wheel.
I will be doing this vary soon myself. I currently running 1.5" spacers so I forsee no issues on my part.
I want to put 80 axles on my 40. The tires I have for my 40 I got off craigs for a killer deal and they are 15s. I got the whole set of tires for 400 bucks. To get 4 of those tires brand new for a set of 4 they cost over 2k. So I would really like to use these tires since I got such a great deal. Why would you want 15's instead of 16's? My HDJ80 from 92 had 15's standard, but had rear discs. Same caliper as later models I think, just another bracket that puts the caliper closer to the center.
