Separate question: what size wrench to use for the 15600-41010? I suppose it's so big you don't need one ....
The 90915-YZZD3 needs a 73(mm)-14 wrench. The 15600 looks much bigger.

Just to confirm...is the 15600-41010 the original filter that came with these trucks? My oil change guy always freaks out about the size of the filter vs the newer one.

The 15600-41010 "large" filter was specified up until early 1996 production. From that point on the 90915-20004 was listed. Either filter fits and is perfectly suitable.

If the filter was installed properly it should be removable by hand. This applies to both sizes.

Bump. For anyone wanting this filter in their life, they can get the Toyota Forklift version directly from a Toyota forklift dealer or directly on-line from Toyota Forklift here in the US. The part number is 15600-76003-71. $12.12 a rattle. :)

Well, strike out yet again. :(

This part number supersedes to 15601-76009-71 which is unfortunately a Thailand Denso manufacture filter.

Bummer...

I’d still recommend getting them from David Stedman from Japan4X4 in Japan.

I finally ran out of my qty 8 of the big cans from jpn and need to re-up.

Looks like my MT source is out of stock, but I emailed him to check on availability.

UPDATE: Source says the made in jpn big cans have recently been discontinued. Says to try 90915-40002 as an alternative.

"Nope, no one has them in stock. Toyota stopped making them last year and I bought all that was left. And they are all gone now."

Heck, I'm going to save my last big can and keep it as a souvenir. Bittersweet. :)

This is correct. Toyota has discontinued the Japan manufactured version of the 15600-41010.

I would use 15601-44011 instead. From 7M-GTE Supra. Japan manufactured. Not available in US. Has to come from overseas.

Motorcraft FL-1A, find it everywhere, great filter. If you aren't just stuck on 'Toyota'.

Running them on my 80 series for 20 years now. 320K miles, doing just fine.

The 15601 are a few bucks cheaper too :) And many more in stock. Shipping is steep but I've bundled a number filters in with other part orders and its not that bad in the end.

Did they ever ship these or was it an inventory error by Partsouq?

When I saw this they still showed "in stock" and I added 4 to a parts order I was doing. The parts showed up without the filters - no notification.

I tried through Megazip with the filters being the only thing ordered. It is processed so I'll update if they actually show up. They were good about updating the order when something was discontinued in the past. Hopefully isn't the replacement.
