The new website for Imported Vehicle Owners Association of Canada (www.ivoac.ca) is up and running.

The purpose of this site is to:
---Fight the 15-year to 25-year importation rule change
---Post up factual information for the DOT/SAE compliance issues
---Development of a penalty for punishment of power hungry inspection officers
---Set up to battle rumors of insurance refusal in different provinces

This is for the good of anyone that owns an imported vehicle (no matter whether RHD or LHD, any make or model) or those that want to own one.

We NEED your help.

We have 107 members to date, many of them importers. This is for EVERYONE, importers, owners, and dreamers.

Join up today.

as long as it is DOT/SAE compliant then it is safe, if it is not and is called in for reinspection you could loose the registration and have a sweet lawn ornament...

i would suggest we win the fight...

contact Daryl at dchymko@ivoac.ca and he should be able to walk you though any difficulties...
cheers

the insurance companies decide they do not want to insure RHDs (like they are threatening to do in Manitoba).

one of our goals on the site is to show the government insurance companies that the RHD are actually safer (statisticly speaking) than Canadian spec 15-year old units.
we need the support of the RHd community as well as the Imported Owners community as a whole.

i have heard rumours about ICBC, Sask and Manitoba government insurance, but i beleive these are based on the faulty findings of the report back in 2004.

i feel we have a good chance to fight this, it comes down to trying. if we don't try then the nails are in the coffin, if we try we have nothing to loose but an investment of time and maybe some money.

there are a few of us that have invested hundreds of volunteer hours and I have paid to get the site up (as well as the "15year.ca" for the cards and stickers) and running where we can all go to join forces. it is great to see the Delica, Safari, Skyline and Cruiserheads joining up to fight for what is right. 124 peeps have joined at last count.

i am also investing in stickers and cards to lead those that normally don't attend forums to the site to help out.

i have set aside a set amount to fight this battle, what i am curious about is what are the other importers doing? they make their money off this comunity, do they not care about their customers? or are they in it for the fast buck and go back to where they came from?

we have good help from people like Daryl, Mike, HZJ77, Paradis, John, Wes and of course Hunter. they invest time and energy for free to help ALL of us out.

The report is almost finished to send out to as many recipricants as we can find. there is also media we have contacted to spread the word as well.

if you own a RHD it is in YOUR OWN best interest to join up.

cheers

We have had a few hiccups along the way but they have been minimal as far as we can tell…thanks to the people that have made us aware of it..

As Wayne has mentioned before, this is a site run by volunteers.. And its worth noting that the awesome software package we use on the website is also developed and maintained by volunteers (open source). Without the great people we have and without this great product, we wouldn't have been able to go from nothing to live fully functioning site in just a few days. Some may might think it’s a bit rushed, but given the rapid escalation of this issue, we felt getting something going quickly was in order. And like I said, the issues to us looked minimal from the number of signups we were getting each day..

Anyway, we've tracked down the issue and it’s related to the core components of the software. There is no patch out for it yet but I updated the code with the work-around.. Hopefully it helps.. I will keep my eye on the issue, and hopefully they will have it patched up soon.
