I ordered a new fan since when i had to replace the water pump gasket I noticed a cracked fan blade. Unfortunately the part number given by toyodiy.com and received by amayama trading does not fit this vehicle.

part number given - 16361-38010.
The only identifying marks on the original fan is AISIN 41070

Any help with locating the right part number would be awesome.

I got this part number for an 89 model BJ74 which matches some of the numbers on your fan
16361-41070

The fan 16361-38010 seems to work on just about everything except a BJ74

The fan number 16361-38010 is the right number for a Japan market BJ74.
The fan number 16361-41070 is the right number for a General market BJ74.

So the question is ...from which market is your BJ74 ?

Which is further evidence that ............

toyodiy (and the EPC) does have errors but most of the time it is "failure to understand it fully" that leads to incorrect part number identification

This is a Japanese market bj74. Which makes it interesting as well. Can someone by chance tell me if that would make the clutch fan part number different as well. Mine is in pretty bad shape and if I need to wait for another fan I may as well order a new clutch fan.

16361-38010 is a very popular pan number and fits many, many different engines and vehicles for a good number of years across the Toyota line.

Where are you located OP? Are you in the States?

The difference in this case actually ends up being based on whether you have an auto transmission or a manual transmission.

16361-41070 is the fan for a 13B-T with an A440F automatic transmission.

16361-38010 is the fan for a 13B-T with an H55F manual transmission.

The correct fan clutch:

16210-58012 for a 13B-T with an A440F automatic transmission

16210-56040 for a 13B-T with an H55F manual transmission.

Yes I am in the states. The truck was imported thorugh Canada with Japanes VINs and is a RH drive MTM with the 16361-41070 fan. Does that mean I need to get the ATM clutch fan as well?

Since you already bought the correct fan for your truck (16361-38010) you might as well get the correct fanclutch (16210-56040).,and get it all back to OEM specs.

Toyroverlander, thanks for the heads up I'll keep that in mind next time

Sved, I don't think the fan clutch is correct either because the 38010 bolt pattern does not match up with the current fan clutch.

I had a bunch of trouble with this on my BJ73. The PO replaced the original 38010 fan and clutch (38010 stands for 380mm dia.) with the 41070 (410mm dia) fan and clutch.

Either fan will fit provided you have the clutch to match. However the 410mm fan is a bit tight in the 380mm shroud, and mine had some damage in the blades from occasional contact.

FYI the Aisin # for the 380mm fan clutch is FCT-001. You can get it cheap on amazon:

I installed that clutch with the 16361-38010 fan a few months ago.

Amaurer,

You are the man right now, I thought I was gonna have to search the world for a new clutch fan or wait week to get it from Japan. Gotta love Amazon with that prime shipping too.

Cheers.

FYI I have perfect cooling now with that setup, even in 100+ with AC... however I did replace the oil in the new clutch with the heavier stuff like the 80-series guys like to do. I have no idea if that was necessary, but I did it.
