Besides the electrical issues, are there any other problems with dropping in a 13BT from a 88 BJ74 into a 85 BJ70? I sold the 13BT from my wrecked BJ74 to a buddy, and now he is telling me he needs the bell housing and possibly the clutch. I plan on doing an Auto tranny to manual swap on my new BJ74 very soon so I would assume that I need the bell housing at the very least. Am I missing something? I don't want to be selling parts that I will be needing for the swap.

the clutch will be needed for swapping the 13BT into the 85 depending on the colour of the block...

Thanks Wayne.

I believe the block is orange, does that sound right? How about the bell housing? The one he has in the BJ70 should be ok, right?

Joe...

I'm not at home to double check with EPC, but iirc the clutch is 275mm for the 1985 BJ70 and for all the 13BT applications (as well as 1HZ). So...clutch/pp from the 1985 BJ70 should all work.

There is a change up in the 13BT crank at the end of 1988 (Which seems to match when the 13BT went from red block to blue in Landcruiser applications) from 6 bolt to 8 bolt. This effects the flywheel/crank only. The clutch disc is still 275mm and the same PP is used iirc.

The aluminum bell housing on the 1985 BJ70 is exactly the same as the ones used on the 13BT/H55F's.

He should be good to go...

theres your answer...i know there was somthing different between the blue and red block...i guess it was flywheel and not the clutch but then how come Bruce needed a special clutch made up when he installed the 13BT into Agent Orange??
