Wondering where the block coolant drain is located? According to the manuel I have, it says it is in the front left of block, but in the picture it shows it at the rear left of block? How do you identify it? There is what looks like a bolt just back and a little lower of the rear block freeze plug. Left and right is in refrence to looking at the front of the engine from behind, right? So on drivers side for us LHD vehicles? Bought a external coolant heater that needs to be plumbed into the block drain and a heater coolant line. If it's where I think it is, might be easier to just replace the block heater, even though it is a major job. Hmmm

Sounds like you are going with the lower rad hose heater, however for future reference it is on the left side, just rear of the injection pump. There is a fitting into the block, which has a brass plug screwed into it. Undo the brass plug a little and coolant will start coming out the hole that is on the underside of the fitting.
