13B-T head gasket is same as 3B

I probably should have asked more people about this while I was on my hunt for a new head gasket for my 13b-T but I ask quite a few and no one seemed to know so I will post for those who don't.

I bought a head gasket for my 89 13B-T engine and the gasket was for 87 and up, and after getting it, and then pulling the head o my 13b-T I thought the gasket looked pretty much the same as 3B so I went to compare them to see what was different and then found that they are identical, at first I thought maybe a got the wrong one but the new 13B-T , a new 3B both match the gasket I pulled off the 13B-T (wich was factory original).

So if anyone else out there is ever wanting a 13B-T head gasket you can buy a 3B one.

I have not checked the intake and exhaust gaskets but that is good guess. I don't know if the part numbers are the same, I would think so, but since some very knowledgable people I talked to did not know, they might have different part #'s for some reason.

I will check on those items and if I have something to report I will add to the post.

Michael, you asked the wrong people then, as I walked down this road a few months back :D

It's amazing what does cross over, but not all things.

3B/13BT Head Gasket:

11115-58010 crosses to (starts out as a 1980/08 3B HG)
11115-58011 crosses to
11115-58012 crosses to
11115-58040 crosses to
11115-58110 which is the 3B/13BT HG up to 88/08 and then just the 13BT till 90/01.

The 3B splits off after 88/08 to 11115-58080.

3B/13BT Intake manifold gasket:

17172-56022 crosses to
17171-56010 which works for both to 90/01

3B/13BT Exhaust manifold gasket

17173-58010 for both up to 88/08

The 3B splits off after 88/08 to 17173-56040.
The 13BT stays with the 58010 to 90/01.

All North American good numbers, easy to get. I was able to get just about everything I needed for my 13BT head in Poo, as good North America EPC numbers. The part numbers for what I needed were good...but I cleaned them out, and had to order from Oz to expidite, as the rest from Toyota Canada were coming from Japan.

The exhaust valves are different, but the intake valves are the same.

The valve stem oil seals are the same for both, with both sharing the change in part number 88/08. The part number change however is not a cross up number.

The intake and exhaust valve guide bushings are the same...

11122-56021 crosses to
11122-56030 up to 90/01
