Here again...
I remember reading in a post here that so long as there is no light involved, a switch does not care what voltage it is run at. I want to confirm this as I would like to run a rheostat out of a 12V truck at 24V. Any thoughts?

Is that the same for relays then?

Or will putting a 12v rely on a 24v truck kill the relay?

Thanks!

K

Relays are voltage specific. 24v relays are readily available.

A rheostat is not a switch, it's a variable resistor -Whether it smokes or not on 24 volts will depend on it's current capacity and the load it is connected to......
