Howdy all,

So I have a puzzler for you. I have two vibration symptoms that may or may not be related. First, with engine idling, tranny in neutral, and clutch engaged I can hear the tranny input shaft vibrate. My old H42 did this too but that had a worn tranny input bearing. The H55 is brand new.

Second, when depressing the clutch pedal to shift gears during acceleration I hear a groan and feel a corresponding vibration from the clutch pedal. This only happens while shifting during acceleration.

The suspicion that I want to investigate is related to the flywheel. When I removed it fromthe engine during my conversion, I forgot to make alignment marks to make sure it was returned to the crank in the correct orientation. There are no locating pins or other features to aid in this. The flywheel can bolt on in six positions. Double -

Does anyone have any info about this issue? Is the flywheel used to balance the rear of the engine?

Thanks

I doubt it is the flywheel. since it can be resurfaced, it can't act as a reliable balancer in the frist place. A good flywheel will be true...

Sorry to butt in,I hope you get the vibes sorted out mountain goat but you mentioned new h55,can you still get them new? and if so where did you get yours from?
cheers dave

Hi,

The H55s are still available from LC parts distributors such as SOR, Man-a-Fre, CoolCruisers, and mine came from Cruiserparts.net.

Prices vary, and in this case you will likely find that you get what you pay for.

yeah r you talking new or rebuilt, cause if there new we should be able to get them new in oz,i know troopy boxs etc are readily available, didnt think 60's were, might ring a dealer instead of annoying you,

New as in factory fresh.

Yeah. I have had a chance to dive it a bit. I love it. Damn the US EPA for their rediculous rules and regulations. :)
