Just out of curiousity.
Can a 12H have the boost upped a bit and add an intercooler and get say 155HP and 260ft lb torque?

That's about what AXT says they get out of a 2H with no intercooler.

It's not really something I will use as they seem as expencive as a 1HD-T for some reason.

It would be nice if they were reasonably avalible. But seem rare and costly.

I've been thru all the old psts that I could find. Not much that I could find.

Time has shown the 12HT to be an extremely durable engine,so I dont think some extra boost would hurt.
It is a pity about their availabilty.

Allen,

I have a 12ht in my troopie. With some work on the fuel injection pump and some extra boost (double as stock) it should deliver around 165 HP. I don't know about torque yet, but it should also have a reasenable increase. This is done without an intercooler. Which is still on the wishlist.
I had the tweaking on the pump done by a specialized shop.

A friend of mine has an interccoled HJ61 with a mild fuel setting and dynoed at 160hp. These engines definately have potential.

how much boost .. ? 14 - 16 PSI . ? without intercooler . ?

I will be happy with those numbers in my 2H with turbo and intercooler setup ..

intercooled, I don't remember how much boost but no more than 12-14 IIRC ? Stockish would be what, 8 ? Say the improved efficiency from the intercooler at least balances the loss of efficiency from the higher boost, you would need 160/136x(15+8)-15=12psi for 160hp at the same revs as the stock 136 with the correct fueling.

I'm planning at least 12 PSI of boost .. maybe max 14 .. I'm stiull thinking in a boost controler with a relay to control 12 to 14 psi ..

I am running 10.4 lbs of boost and adjusted the fuel boost controller to match. I have never dyno'd it but the results put the trucks performance back to where stock 31" tires felt. I went to 35's and a SOA.
