I know it's early but what the heck, here it goes.

Who is ready for another adventure to the Eastern Sierras? My kids can't wait and neither can I. This year the trip has been moved up to accommodate kid school schedules to get as many of us up there as we can. I will post up more details but I liked the relaxed pace of last year's trip (I think everyone else did too) and will aim to do that going forward. This gives the group the ability to have fun as a group without being tied to a big group. Go when you wanna go, we will meet up eventually.

My kids are getting older and so I will bring their 2 wheeled toys (and mine too) so they can do some of their own exploring in addition to Land Cruising. my 12 year old wants to tackle Funnel Lake again on his Razor (it was quite the feat last time). There will be obligatory fishing and this time we really should aim to get to Hidden Lake. Baker is good but Hidden has an actual beach / Baja shelf feature with shade that makes is really nice to just hang out and relax in.

I found some recent footage, looks like snow is melting already... Video However, there is snow in the forecast and it's far too early to know what the lakes levels will be by July.

I will get the details up in the coming months but feel free to post up if you want your name on the list. We will aim to leave early Friday, give us lots of time to get up there.

Attendees.
- Elripster + wife, 4 kids, dog, dirt bikes of various varieties and energy sources.
- Butch, father of Elripster, is going, just doesn't know it yet.
- Phulcrum + ? Is going just doesn't know it yet.
- RaptorPat, + 2 boys, 4 wheeled toys.
- Others?

Gonna pass this year (again) as the dates are too close to our departure date for the Rocky Mtn Folk Music festival in Colorado.
That sounds awesome!

The Webster boys are a maybe. The dates conflict with Owens swim Meet of Champs. If he doesn't qualify we'll be there.

Hope he qualifies but also hope you make it.

We are in! Coredawg01 + 2 kids 1 wife. Last year, didnt we leave on a thursday to make sure we go a good spot ahead of t he crowds? Might be worth doing again?

That's a good point regarding Thursday departures. Unfortunately, for us, we can't leave Thursday. However, if anyone can, it would be a little added insurance that we can snag a nice section of the camp area.

Im game to lead the charge on a Thursday Group if anyone wants to join. We would also leave in the morning and aim to get to camp before dark.

Crew - I am going to lead a group up on Thursday July 30th from Escondido. Plan is to leave early around 8am and head straight to bishop for re fueling and last minute supplies. Please note, I have small children so our timing to bishop might be slow because of “potty” stops. Ideally we hit the trail up around 3pm. Please let me know if you plan on heading out with me so we can coordinate. Franks group will head up Friday and we will feed them the table scraps of campsites for being late. Jk. Kind of. lol.

'Preciate ya leading the Thursday charge!

Heck yeah - I will make sure we get a good spot! Planning on the same area as last year. I think that worked well.

That's the best area I found up there. I am sure there are others, and maybe this year we can spend more time exploring, but that spot can hold a lot of folks. It also keeps the kids sort of contained. If you go to the far (north) end, there is better sun exposure for solar charging of power stations and the likes.

A really great idea Corey! 👍 Count me in with the Coyote Flats "Team Thursday" Trailblazers 😊

Biggest consideration is wind in my opinion.

That's a big part of why we stopped staying at Funnel Lake. Among other things like being hard to get to, it gets insane wind bundled with equally insane cold. Where we camp is nicely protected. If it keeps getting the late snow and some rain we will have the lake in the middle this year.
