I did a few searches, but no real results that line up completely...here is my deal:

2000 UZJ100, 108k on the clock.

I get in to start the truck, I get a click, no indicator lights, etc, just a click.

I open the driver door, rock the truck back and forth...

VROOM.

I am suspecting a switch or sensor to determine if it is in park. I don't have any issues with the truck starting once I get thinks lined up by rocking.

So, am I looking at a starter, a sensor, a ??. I have no stored codes. Is there a simple adjustment of the linkage like on the 80 to make it show "more in park" when parked?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I think everybody's first guess will be starter contacts. The clicking is from the starter solenoid, so power is likely going to the starter but the starter isn't working properly. Rocking back and forth is probably the equivalent of tapping on the starter with a wrench.

Next time it does this, just patiently turn the ignition key back and forth. By the fourth or seventh time it should turn over and you will know to replace the starter contacts or the entire starter.

Sounds like starter contacts too me as well. When mine started to die it would start fine about 70% of the time. The other 30% you would have to try it 3-7 times and then it would start like there was no problem! Fortunately, I had a couple thousand miles left on my extended warranty and they put in a new starter for free! Good luck.

If this has been described correctly, I think the KEY words here are "no indicator lights".

If you just get a click and NO indicator lights, most probably you have a bad battery connection. When you first turn the key to ON, do you get dash indicator lights? Do they go out when you turn the key from ON to START? This is when you here the CLICK? If this is correct then there is a bad connection in the battery circuit. Starter contacts usually fail and you get a click then a click the away you go, this happens intermittently and gets worse. If you are losing your dash lights then a battery problem. If it is not in park or neutral, you do not energise the starter relay so there will be no starter click.

yup

+1.
Mine did the exact same thing (everything went dark after the click) until I cleaned and tightend my terminals and cables. Finally, an affordable fix that I could accomplish. I think the dealer charges $1300 or so to do it.

Dealer has the truck. Seeing as I just replaced the battery, cleaned, etc the cables, connections, etc as part of my diagnostics...I am 99% sure we have a starter issue.

If you have "no indicator lights", it won't be the starter, even though they may replace it and charge you for it and while they are at it just tighten up a loose ground or positive wire somewhere. Make sure you ask for the old starter motor, even if you don't want it , someone on mud may want it.
