So long story short, I destroyed my rear diff while wheeling last weekend. It leaked all its oil, and the rear wheels wouldn't spin at all. I couldn't move the truck in 2WD, and had to engage 4WD, essentially running on the front wheels only. This is because I have a part-time 4WD system from the factory.

Now the mechanic wants to fit a rear diff from a 2001 Cruiser on mine. He said he's sure it'll fit, and that 4WD will still work.

Just wanted to check with all of you guys before dropping the dough.

No can do. Side bearings are different. Axle shafts won't fit.

Thanks for the response.
Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but I meant he would change the entire rear axle. Would that work?

Just do it.....Likely means never trying.
Post some pics of the process.

Also, the 100 series uses a 5 bolt wheel pattern, so the wheels would not be the same as the 6 bolt 80 series wheel.

hold on a second, this guy is in doha qatar, is there a possibility the mechanic is recommending a 105 rear axle?

Possibly.

US spec 2001 100 series would be 4.3 gears, 32 spline axles, semi float 5 lug.

Yes, what I was getting at is if the mechanic is referring to a type of model that's available there that's more compatible than the us spec. Im no expert but the 105, I believe would be.
