100 series brake pads on an 80 (1 Viewer)

Mind seemed to work fine as well, like the 80 pads...but wait till they start wearing, that's where my problem started...

Yes, when I put 100 series pads on my LX, part of the pad hung over on each end of rotor and didn't touch rotor being that they are bigger than the stock pads...so that part did not wear. So when pads would wear down to 1/4" to half way I noticed a bad shimmy going down long grades like Tioga pass down to Lee Vining and other passes....when they heated up it seemed rotor expanded enough to now rub against upper pad wear grove...hard to explain without pics, I know but I got bad back and forth shimmy.

I changed em out with 80 series pads and was back in eastern sierra a few months later with no shimmy at all.

Someone on here a while back had a pic of there grooved 100 series pads...they looked like mine

Others seem to have no problem with 100's on there 80 but not mine for the reason above.

Same here, they have caused me no issues. They don't work 'better' than 80 series pads..but they do last longer.
