100 series 4.2 Manual gearboxes.? (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,

owned an Auto 5 speed Amazon in the past and looking to buy another, loved the auto box, couldn't fault it.

Seen a manual for sale, always had manuals (other brand of 4x4) before the last Auto so have no real preference.

So, are the manuals a good gearbox, up for the job as they are rare here in the UK, I tow a heavy trailer occasionally, and a mixture of road driving, little off road..

Is the clutch a big job to do if needed?

I have a 5 speed manual 105 diesel with 410,000kms and the gearbox is still absolutely fine.

I do not know what previous owners have done though

IMO 5spd auto is much better match. Nothing wrong with the manuals, they work fine but have lower torque in 1st gear and higher rpm at freeway speeds.
