1/2 shackle bolt question (1 Viewer)

Trying to replace my front shackles to get rid of PO gear- noticed the bolt is 1/2 inch versus 5/8 (stock diameter)- does this pose a safety risk? I am really trying to keep the bushings intact and not go down that road just yet... Any recommendations on where to find shackles with the 1/2 bolt?

First of all, do you want or need the wacky extendable shackles?

Second, it looks like the main pivot bolts aren't long enough to fully engage the locking portion of the top-lock nuts. The bolt threads should protrude a few threads past the nuts.

1/2” bolts are for J**ps! There’s a reason Toyota uses larger bolts than Jppps. Be happy you discovered this now ...in your driveway. Spend the $$ to correct a PO mistake with hardware appropriate to a Landcruiser.

Either drill out the plates in your current setup to 15mm/ 5/8” or just buy some replacement shackles. I hear Marks Off Road has some really beefy ones.
