I thought so also. Is your machine a backhoe? (Just saw pics of some tasty slabs hangin' off the loader bucket). Curious if that setup would split our hard **s oak.

Looks like an easy mod, get to work and let us know.;)

No backhoe. Mine's a reg tractor with front loader. My neighbor has a backhoe 3-pt attachment for the back of his tractor, and I think that would work, but not as effective as that video. I bet it would split your oak, though. Those outriggers produce enough down pressure to lift the tractor up. :cheers:

Yeah, I need to get to wacking down some myself. I ran a little short on wood because all the deep snow prevented me from going into the woods and cutting the standing dead i usually cut at the end of the season. Insted i went and bought 1 1/2 tons of coal and lit my basement stove. Came in handy as we were without power since saturday afternoon!
 
Yep, if you have the equipment. Pellet stoves are very popular in this area, Kind of like a miniature coal burning stove.

We took down a ton of trees last year and had a fire every night. Big difference with the heating bill.

Took me 22 years to figure that out. :rolleyes:
