    2F Hesitation/stumbling at various RPMs

Hello all, I'm having a weird and frustrating issue with my 1985 2F FJ60 that I was hoping I could get assistance for. A couple of weeks ago it was running fine and dandy, then one night on my return home from Taco Tuesday it started to pull and hesitate from 1500-2000 RPM intermittently. I...

Anyone add a Vacuum booster to 40 clutch master?

I’ve discussed this idea on mud a couple times and never concluded it was possible. Based on info in this 70 thread… Boosted vs unboosted clutch master cylinder. What’s the benefits? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/boosted-vs-unboosted-clutch-master-cylinder-whats-the-benefits.1203228/ I...

Vacuum leak smoke test - results.

I had a stream of smoke coming out of this area. Is there a way to replace whatever seal that’s there or is it time for a rebuilt unit?

    testing for vacuum leak

Am trying to track down the source of a vacuum leak in my 60, still has all the smog equipment that I replaced with silicone hose about 5 years ago. The truck was running fine until last spring, 2023 when it went under a car cover and was left over the Texas summer (No AC). a month or so ago...

    What is this vacuum valve?

I'm gradually replacing my vac lines, and found another broken vacuum valve. This one appears to be a temp sensor of some kind, it's under/by the thermostat? Any help identifying it, and or where to get one is greatly appreciated. One of the nipples is broken off, and it's covered in greasy...

    Vacuum Advance Distributor....worth it?

My bone stock 73 FJ40 runs/drives great. It has a Fairey OD that was installed at the dealership when purchased and it makes highway speed very comfortable. The original F155 has great compression on all cylinders, excellent oil pressure and runs smooth. I had Mark rebuild the factory 1973...

    Wanted  Vacuum pump for 1988 BJ74, 29300-56070

Looking for a replacement vacuum pump for my 88 BJ74. I believe the assembly # is 29300-56070, discontinued. Also would be interested in a rebuild kit if one exists. A new one would be preferred but one in good shape would be considered. Thanks.

Wanted  Vacuum Operated Transfer Case Gear Shift Linkage

My '67 FJ40 was swapped with a 4 speed transmission under prior ownership, and the linkage was modified and interferes with the transfer case itself, preventing me from shifting into 4 Lo (Hi & Neutral are fine, but can't get it to click that one last notch into Low!) Looking for a replacement...

Vacuum and its importance to engine performance

Vacuum as it pertains to engines and their performance intrigues me. I know enough about vacuum to stumble my way through using it as a diagnostic tool. I’m a data guy because.. data doesn’t lie. Readily available data is best. From my peanut – What is the best approach to monitoring, in real...

    Vacuum lines post Sniper install

I looked and haven’t seen this asked yet. What vacuum lines are actually necessary post sniper install. There are a ton of Ts that lead to capped manifold ports etc. I’ve seen sniper installs on SBCs where there are only a couple lines. Ie to the dizzy etc I’d really like to eliminate as...

FJ62 Vacuum Clogs in the bundle of lines under intake manifold.

I am cleaning and putting together my intake manifold with a bunch of parts I scavenged. A few vacuum lines in the metal bundle under the intake manifold are clogged. Any one have an idea how to get these cleared?

    Radiator hose odd shape

I picked up my truck this afternoon after having the dealership do the timing belt, water pump, and pulley. When I opened the hood, I noticed the radiator hose was almost "vacuumed" together. I was able to squeeze it, and it was mostly empty. I started the truck later, and it's the same shape. I...

    Vacuum Engine Isolator Purpose - 4.5 V8 Diesel (1VD)

So, my engine mounts are shot. My car is a G spec 200 with a 1VD and manual box. Bare bones, UN spec, but it seems this bring some challenges. The engine mounts on my car are oil filled but have no vacuum tubing. These mounts are only specifically fitted to my spec of vehicle, which is rare...

    1978 FJ40, 2f, Carb, Vacuum, Rpm’s, timing

Hey guys - finally went ahead a did a “rebuild” on my 2f carb. The float valve was sticking amongst other things. I put carb back on and similar symptoms - idle fuel pulling through Venturi. I read in the forum to blow out the idle circuit, likely blocked (with compressed air and carb cleaner)...

    HAC Valve

Here’s a basic question: When replacing vacuum lines on the HAC valve, the book references Left/Right for the various lines. Is this when the value is viewed from the top, or if looking straight at the ports? This makes a big difference in routing the lines.
