I nicked my cv boot. I tried to put a split boot from a 4Runner on but it’s too stiff and pulls off the wheel end in a tight turn. Has anyone tried one that works? I’d really rather not pull the axle

I'm posting for a friend who has a 2017 TRD Pro . He is on a trip and has a broken front CV axle . It's clicking as he drives. He plans on continuing his 1,000 mile trip but is not sure if it is OK to do so without causing anymore damage. Thanks in advance for your expert advice.
