I noticed a very slight hesitation at exactly 2000rpm on my 2H, and was wondering whether anyone had an idea what it could be.
It is very brief, but noticable, and below 2000 or above the engine spools up smoothly and nicely.
The engine is low mileage, running on good oil, with a fresh fuel filter.

Here's the answer to my own question: low quality fuel!
I changed the oil, oil filter and fuel filter this weekend, filled her up with fresh diesel and a conditioner, and there is no hesitation whatsoever now.

increasing or decreasing rpm's the same thing . ?

it was just at increasing rpms under load (accelerating).
