G'day all

I'm trying to work out which forum I belong to.

I've got the body of 100 and have the running gear of an 80(nearly)

How many of us are there?

Cheers Phil.

You are welcome in both forums though if you have a diesel engine, then
perhaps the international forum will also suit you.

It's nice to see all the Aussies on the board!

I see you've been lurking for a year now. How about some pics? There are more than a few jealous members around here.

G'day Hoser

Yes I've been lurking in the shadows for a while, but am not a big computer user and have learnt so much just from reading threads whitout having to ask too many questions. (god bless the search function!)

I have a auto. 4.5L.

I'll have to try to work out how to add some attachments. It keeps saying that the upload has failed.

Phil.

Here we go. (I hope)

Those pictures are making me ill. Why do you (Aussies) get all the good Cruisers?

G'day Pat

Our stock options may be good but I wish I could road register a rig with the type of mods that you guys do over there.

I think I would need a ladder to get into my truck if I lived over there.

They are really cracking down on road legal mods over here.

Cheers  Phil

Hi

It's got a 6 inch lift with 9 stage adjustable Tough Dog shocks (They're made by Rancho for Australia) with digital incab adjustment kit (I read in a Peterson magazine that these digital kits have just been released in the States and they are worth getting if you have adjustable shocks)

Its got home made quick disconnects on the back swaybar.(worth doing)

Its only got 305/70R16 MTRs on it at the moment but I think that I could go to 315s next without regearing straight away (budget is blown, doing everthing on the cheap)

Rear Arb air locker (front coming soon, budget permitting)

Kaymar rear, Arb front barwork. (sliders still being fabricated)

Lots of little mods but thats it for offroad performance.

I'll put some more picys on tomorrow when I get home from work.

Cheers Phil.

Welcome! And nice rig!

Could adjustable shocks help with the problem I have? (I tow a trailer & with the motorcycle on the very back it does pretty well, however if I just tow the trailer or only have the motorcycle on the back it will bottom out over large bumps. I don’t want a real harsh ride, so heavy springs don’t appeal to me. Sounds like the adjustable shocks might be the ticket.

Great looking truck!

(I'm jealous of the lift)

Gday again guys

To EL_3grab. Yes that is my lift kit but I bought the incab adjuster for an extra $500.

To DMX. To me it sounds as though your issue is more to do with extra weight, so shocks will slow the dampening action down but if you don't do something with the springs you will probably grenade your shocks one day. I think your prodlem would be better solved with something like a load helping air bag that fits inside your coils and can be inflated only when you need them, as shocks are designed more for dampening than load carrying.

Try. http://www.4wdworld.com.au/products/polyair/index.htm

Having said that, if your issue seems more like body roll then these shocks might do the trick.

Hope this helps, but you would probably get better responses if you start a new thread.

Here's a couple of shots of the good stuff in the front end that you guys miss out on.

Well to answer your question Phil, looks like it's you! No I am certain there are more out there who don't lurk around as often, I would have purchased a 105 except I couldn't get it with the factory turbo for towing, and didn't want to go down the aftermarket route for that. I am sure if it was offerred Australia would have sold many thousand more cruisers if that combo was available. Look at how many 80 owners would like some more grunt for their diesels! (and probably upgrade to a 100 series if it was a RFS)

Mods in the States are dependent on what state you live in. In some of the East Coast states, they're picky...max lift isn't very tall, fender covers must cover all tires, auxiliary lights can't come on the same time as headlights, etc. Here in Arizona, they really don't care, as long as you pay your registration and pass the smog test, and the older the vehicle, the cheaper it is (I pay $20/yr reg for a lifted 86 4runner).

Hi Gents,

Well I'll put my hand up here as another AU 105 owner.

Went down after market turbo route, then tossed the 1HZ and fitted a 1HD-FT in it's place :)

I don't have the lift or articulation Phil has, just a mere OME ~2" and Koni 88 series shocks.

So to rub it in to our US friends, factory TD, live axles & factory diff locks.

Greg.

Any 105's or 100's with front and rear factory diff locks?

I am chasing pictures and information on exactly where the front and rear diff locks hook into the main harness, including sub-harnesses and part numbers off the harness if possible, and photos and info on where the difflock ECU hooks in if possible.
I have started a new thread Sorry for hijacking this one.
