originally i hava a set of skyjacker 2 1/2 springs. i was gonna just do a flip on them, but after installing my sm465 the adapter to the t-case move back 4 1/2".
i didnt think the skyjacker springs were gonna be long enough to move the axle back as far as i wanted.
sooooooo, the search went on for some different springs.
tried to work a deal with FJBEN on his alcans off his pig :frown:
just missed a set for sale somewhere else..:frown:

but last week chris(red cruiser) and myself, did a spring swap on his fj62.
and he gave me his old springs(thanx you sir)

so, on to the mod....
i only tore down one spring pack at a time.
first the 62 springs were disassembled.
redrilled the milatary wrap leaf.
removed one spring pack off the rear of the 40.
disassembled that.
cleaned up as much as i felt needed,
and reassembled using anti-seize(somewhere i read about using anti-seize) i had it, so i'm trying it.
reassembled and this id what i ended up with.

looks like this will move the axle back about 5"
and wont have to do any rear drive shaft mods :D

a before pic of how the wheel base looks before the mod.
and i'll post another pic when i'm done.

just doing the rears at this point, the front will come later.

pic 1) before the mod

pic 2) drilling military wrap

pic 3) my bottle of anti-seize

88 views and no comments.....so what!

:D

got both springs back in and one side of the axle bolted in before the snow started flying :D

great shackle angle so far (the full weight of the 40 is not all the way down)

clearance is soooo much better in the wheel wells and will prolly cut a bit more off the back.

just need some shims to bring the pinion back up :)

no comments needed....just enjoy the pics ;p
