Looking for the resistance of the Fuel Sender on a '76 FJ40.

An ih8mud search found the specs for a '79-'84 sending unit as:

Full = 17 +/- 2.1 ohms
Half = 40 +/- 4.5 ohms
Empty = 120 +/- 6.5 ohms

The resistance might be the same for a '76 but I don't have a Factory Service Manual to verify. I know that SOR lists three different sending units:
1. 1966 - 9/72
2. 9/72 - 12/78
3. 1/79 - 1984

So, can someone with a FSM covering those years for #2 sending unit above verify the specs and let me know if they are same or different. And if different, please post the specs.

Thanks in advance.

FWIW... It's in the body and chassis manual under BE.. Not in the engine manual. I only have a 76 engine manual. The body and chassis I have (84) states the above #'s for the 60 series too.

ACTUALLY..I did find my old 76 Chassis and body.. really weathered and waterlogged :(

THe specs are:

40 series:
Full = 17 +/- 2.1 ohms
Half = 45 +/- 4.5 ohms
Empty = 120 +/- 6.5 ohms

55 Series

Full = 17 +/- 2.1 ohms
Half = 40 +/- 4.5 ohms
Empty = 120 +/- 6.5 ohms

Interestingly I couldn't find this listed my 71 body and chassis manual...

Thanks wesintl!

Its close enough for me but wonder if that 40 vs. 45 number is a mistake in one of the manuals. Seems a bit strange to have one number different and others the same.

I think it has to do with the depth of the tank... ;)
