I figured I'd post in this forum as it seems you-all are the best versed on these technical issues ( :) ). Here's the details:

2 years old
Front and rear
Have worked flawlessly
Every week or so I'll turn on compressor to make sure lines are good
Compressor shuts down about 7 seconds after it powers the lines

Yesterday, I locked up to cross a gully. The compressor would not shut off and still will not. I drove around in circles trying to troubleshoot. The lockers will not engage and the compressor does not stop. All lights on the switches work.

I tried again just now. After 3 minutes of driving in circles my rear locker only engaged once and it was for about 2 seconds then it unlocked on it's own. The front would not lock at all. Also, when shutting a locker switch OFF, no "squeak" or "bleed" sound is heard like normally is.

Ideas? I have a really important run Friday.
THANKS!

maybe a leak in the line somewhere-loose connection in the blue line at either end? or a bad solenoids? PM Big_Moose, he knows alot about it.

I had a similar problem with my setup, turns out it was a bad preasure switch. I confirmed it was a preasure switch by manually locking the lockers with my CO2 tank. I got a replacment from ARB and all is well.

The switch is easy to install, no need to pay a mechanic.

Do you hear air coming out somewhere? For the compressor to run all the time, the air has to go somewhere.

I'm not smart enough to think of that. FOUND IT!

It's leaking at the seal right above the ARB STICKER and the ROUND BLACK PART OF THE COMPRESSOR. In other words the air is shooting up towards the hood. I can see the seal/gasket sticking out from where it's leaking and it shouldn't be showing.

What do I do? Order a gasket?
Can I replace that? How does that come apart?

THANKS!

Aside from swapping the ARBs for OEM lockers, I'd suggest you take your 100 :flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

Probaby going on a "real" trail and the mall cruiser won't make it! :D

Got a camera John, a pic of where it's leaking would help.

It's leaking at the seal where the gasket material is oozing out in the pics.

I'm guessing that these pieces come apart by the removing the bottom bolt?
Then what? Replace seal/gasket? Or, can I silicon seal, etc?

THANKS!

(Oh, and yes....I'd prefer OEM lockers for sure. I sure do like using the ARB's though. They lock and unlock in a snap. I'd :flipoff2: back-at-cha Doug, but I won't because the lockers still aren't working and I might need your advice. :D :D )

John,

No need to buy a new gasket, unless it is torn / ripped. The "round black part" is the air compressor tank, which can be unbolted / removed. Carefully remove the rubber gasket and clean it warm water & dish soap. Also clean the rubber gasket mating / sealing surfaces. Take the clean gasket and apply a thin coating of grease (or oil, vasoline, etc), and assemble. Simple fix even for unstoppable mall cruisers

AWESOME! THANKS EVERYBODY! I'm an idiot on thse things as you all know. Hell, look what I drive. (Though my Cruiser spills less soda than yours')

Heck, I think I'll even try this fix.

Shotts-Joe is right. THere is a bolt in the bottom of the tank, if you unscrew the tank comes off. Treat the Oring with silicone grease and reassemble carefully. I had a compressor do this once several years ago.

You really do need to learn to work on your rig. You mush spend a fortune at your mechanic's, but I'll bet he loves to see you come in!

Thanks Drew. I used to work on vehicles. I put my sliders on, changed this and that, but over the past 2 years my tendonitis has weakened my arms (from work). Cortisone shots (x3) and possible surgery are coming.
I'm sure I can go this one, though. J

ARB sucks, didn't you remember that? :flipoff2: :D Just more to go wrong.

Seriously s***ts, carry a few small parts with ya including a line fix kit.

mine on my 60 did this. what happend was the bolt on the end backed out, the seal poped out. Easy fix, take the bolt out, put the seal back and tighten the bolt down.....all of 2 mins. \

if the o-rinig is messed up ARB will send ya one....prolly for free

and guess what, I found a pic of mine.......exactly the same as yours did.....

RIGHT ON. My O-ring was fine. Fixed it in 8 minutes (not 2....you know me).
All works well.

Knowbody ever gets my name right? I don't get it?

You can buy the O ring. You have a chance that yours is stretched now and will be a pain to re-install. Always care spare. Also you did not read the manual. You are supposed to remove the bolt on the bottom of the can/tank once a year to remove any water or condensation from inside. :D

They did a great job but 4Wheeler Supply pitched the manuals. My bolt was LOOSE! I guess I should check this every few months.
