LC and country club eh...? Go well together...

Must be interesting to drive one of those out there. I understand the poverty levels are rather high... Interesting social and safety issues likely.

Thanks for posting the pictures for me Hoser. That's cool. Like you said the poverty level is pretty high but the Dominican people are the happiest you have ever seen. Somehow they always manage to be cheery. Nobody is skinny or sad. Though it gets frustrating because of government corruption, it's a nice place to be. I moved out here from Phoenix 12 years ago to run a banana  farm (formerly a melon farm) for a US compony that I have worked for nearly 30 years. My boss, who lives in California (a good friend), Allowed me to build the "country club" on the farm 10 years ago and it's what my family, wify and 2 children age 3 and 5, and one more on the way call home. The LC is actually one of the two vehicles provided by the company for my exclusive use among other serious toys.

As far as safety, just as long as you stay away from the big cities there is no problem. It's the safest place to be as long as you take the basic precautions like you would everywhere else. Don't have to worry about safety around here anymore than you would in Beverley Hills.

SUVs, or "jeepetas" as they call them here are quite aboundant. A friend of mine just imported one from Panama (the local dealer can't keep up with sales). this LC has got two fuel tanks and two spare tires. LC's come in all kind of configurations that is unbelivable. Too bad we don't have all that in the US. I always wonder why. I guess DOT and EPA have a lot to do with that among other things.

If any of you guys posting here decide to take a vacation in the Carribbean, come to the DR and look me up. The "country club" will be at your service  (ooops) and I love to show off the farm and my little garden around the house complete with a mini petting zoo and playground for the children (my labour of love). And you get to see all sorts of LCs. :bounce:

It looks like 98 - 99 Lc owners are the majority leaders according to this poll. Cool!

Regards,

D.D.

Hi D.D. i'm canadian and live since 6 months in Manabao in La Vega (center of the dominican republic). I just purchased a Lexus Lx450 1997 and would love to know where to find good suppliers for upgrades. I'm interested in lifting the suspension, getting big mud tires, roof rack, front/rear defences, winch, all dressed!.. Any information would be appreciated. Gracias. Juan Francisco
