I'm trying to figure out my unsprung weight.

FJ60 axles with ARBs and 35 MTRs on 10x15 steel wheels. I will weigh a wheel and tire tomorrow but I'd like to not drop the axle and weigh it. Anybody already done this or shipped one complete?

Right now my best guess for the complete axle (everything but wheels) is 330 front and 300 rear. How's that sound?

Just for your information I did weigh the wagon at the truck scales. These are "fully loaded" weights, camping gear, spares, tools, water, and a full 40 gallon fuel tank.

front axle 2600 lbs
rear axle 3820 lbs <= wow !!!
left side 3180 lbs
right side 3200 lbs

All four 6480 lbs.

I realize they don't add up exactly but that's what I got. Any way you look at it it's one HEAVY ASS biotch!!! But I already knew that. Light weight tube buggies? Yum, they taste like chicken.

So what's my unsprung weight....

thanks,

my back says a front axle with no wheels should ba a good 270#. I think your guess sounds a bit high...

In your unsprung weight you must also add about 2/3 of the leaves at 50lbs or something each.

OK, I weighed one 35x12.5 MTR on 10x15 steel wheel.....90 lbs

guessing front axle (everything except wheels).......270 lbs

guessing rear axle (everything except wheels).......220 lbs

Any better info out there?

fj40 rear with detroit, GM calipers, rotors and bracket (everything except wheels)....215 lbs
I just weighed it.

220-225 sounds about right for fj60 with drums and a few more cm.

Tim
