Here is what I started with.

Somebody got a little crazy with the RTV. That big bead was on the inside and outside of the pan. They even used a pan gasket. you can see some of this in the top picture of post #5.

Neighbor man had the pan gasket replaced about 60 miles before the con rod bolt came loose. :confused:

Man! that old motor is a mess:eek:.... just remove the dizzy drive gear to get at that lill bolt.... who's the re-builder of the replacement mill?... Most rebuilt 22s come with the front timing cover included, or they should highly recommend replacing it being its the rear portion of the oil pump, plus some want to avoid the risk of the cover having hair line cracks in the casting that might allow coolant to enter the crankcase..... surely they supplied a new oil pump?... anyway, Nice work you got going there....:beer:

No new cover. No new oil pump. :crybaby:
 
MeGolfer and brother of MeGolfer (sorry, don't know his MUD name) came out to help me stab the engine in. I was changing oil in the neighbors truck when they arrived. It took them all of 10 minutes to line it up in the 5 speed and get it in place.


They met the owner of this truck. :D

Seems your quite handy around the neighborhood there D'... ever think about moving to Texas? ..We could use a crusader like yourself.....
