I've been hearing about this comeing for about a year now, apparently its real. Washita Offroad Park, just south of Farmington. What info/pic's I've been able to Google, are comeing from Midwest Jeep Thing, and Mid Rivers Jeep Thing website's. From the pic's, it looks to be a little Flat Nasty mixed with a little Elephant Rock. Just thought I'd pass this on. Al

Would you consider it 80 series friendly based on the pictures? or should we wait a little bit and let the general traffic widen the trails before a trip? I'm game anytime if someone would like to go.

As of right now, NO way that the park is 80 friendly. I went down with Midwest Jeep Thing a couple of weeks ago to work on building some new trails. We cut timber most of the day and wheeled our way in and out. It's an absolutely spectacular park with HUGE potential. I wheel with MWJT quite a bit and participate in a lot of their "events". They're great folks and they do great work with landowners like Farron (owner of Washita) to develop new areas. My Tacoma is bobbed in the rear so I didn't really have any trouble getting around, but I also know my rig VERY well. The trails were tight for my truck but not impossible by any means. An 80 just won't fit as the trails sit right now. I'm not saying you COULDN'T do it, but it would be a rough day. However, there has been some work started on some of the trails to widen them a bit, but it's a Jeep club doing the work on trail building so you have to keep in mind that they're building things to get their rigs through initially. Plus, if you make the trails too wide, then it's not really any fun. It would be like driving through a park, which really isn't wheeling in my opinion. I like technical driving though so lots of folks won't share my same enthusiasm for that type of driving. Anyway, I went everyplace that the Jeeps went all day (with the exception of some crawling up the one "hardcore" trail that's been cut). It's a great place and I'd highly recommend trying to get down there if you don't mind a little scraping, if you're well-armored, or if you've got a smaller rig.

As I still don't have sliders for my 80 (not to mention and rear-end armor) it sounds like this is not the park for me - at least not right now.

But maybe I can get my buddy Dan to bring his heavily modified Jeep out for some recon.

Keep us posted Jester!

Yeah, I would highly recommend good armor for this place. Again, if you're familiar with Elephant Rocks...think driving your rig over Elephant Rocks. The place is really cool and has HUGE potential.
