Ok another issue popped up on my H55 to SBC conversion (73 FJ40)...

The original clutch fork was obviously on the drivers side w/ the 3 speed slave mounted on a Chevy bellhousing, but the Downey 4 speed adapter I'm using only has accomodations for bolting the slave on the passenger side. I've searched and read that it's an easy swap over but I have a few questions.

I'm using a 4 speed fork and TO bearing with Centerforce clutch assembly and I'm hoping to keep the 3 speed slave.

Do I just need a longer clutch hose to route over to the passenger side? I suppose I could have the adapter machined to keep the fork on the drivers side but that seems like a bit of extra work and I'm not sure if the Downey slave bracket is interchangeable.

Thanks

Dom, I had the same problem and just ran a hard line to the passenger side across the firewall and used the stock flex hose.

x2, I bent a new hard line as well and am still using the 3spd slave with the oem hose.

I cut the fittings off the old line and transfered them to the new line before I flared the new line.

A decent double flare tool cost me $26 from OTC.....Owatonna Tool Corp.

Have yet to make one that did not work and not leak.

Easy bend stuff available at NAPA you can shape with your hand.
