Has anyone replaced the timing chain on a 4cyl Taco? I have a '95 with 120,000 miles. The local toyota dealer was very expensive and seemed unsure of when the service interval was. Any suggestions or info is appreciated. Thanks.

On a 2.7 litre, the chain is pretty much good for the life of the engine. The 3.4 litre 6 cyl does have a belt that should be replaced every 80-90k miles. The only way I could see replacing the chain would be if it was somehow stretched, or you had a bad tensioner or slipper guide, which would be evident by noise coming from the timing cover.

That's also the answer I got today from a different Toyota mechanic. I don't have any issues, I just want to keep the truck for another 10 years. Thanks for the reply.
