Those washers were also supplied with the Aisin hubs when used with the short hub and longer fine spline birfield during the changeover to the shorter birfields.
There are both long and short Aisin hub bodies... as pictured above in the prev posting.

Great stuff, But I gotta ask how much did that snap-on ruler cost you....If you dont mind me asking
>The idea of the washer is to do what the snap ring did; hold the axle out against the lock out drive gear inside the lock out body.
>The bolt threads into the outer end of the axle, pulling the axle out towards the washer, which is resting against the drive gear. The diameter of the washer needs to be at least the diameter of the drive gear in the lock out, but cannot be too much larger so that it will not interfere with the locking gear on the dial mechanism.
Hi All:
So Steve, does one tighten the bolt down as far as possible onto the end of the axle shaft, to hold the washer in place on the end of the 'shaft?
I don't want to assume too much!
Thanks much!
Alan
Yep, and you use a short 8x1.25...12mm iirc....and I blue locktite them in place.
Just a couple of pictures showing how far various lockouts/hubs stick out...

So, of the Aisen lock-outs, what is the difference between the "tall" and "short" models (besides the obvious!)? Are the "short" Aisen hubs the ones used on the solid front axle Hilux & TLC?
