This is not what I had originally planned as an air cleaner with the intercooler plumbing that I had made, but you know how things change. I decided to cut down the original air cleaner since I was running a K&N filter anyway and in my mind seemed like a simple task.
The first picture is cutting the stock air cleaner. Second picture is top and bottom cutout and wood form to bend the center section and weld together. Third picture is air intake cutout from snorkel with exhaust pipe for connection.

Next picture shows new size with bottom done and stock mounting brackets welded back on. Next is air cleaner complete with parts of stock outer rim spot welded on so original clamping mechanism works. Last shows air cleaner installed with plumbing. Please ignore wiring etc. as this is just to show how this air cleaner will work for those that are following my path with SC intercooler plumbing.

Sir, you are making me want to learn how to weld. Your turbo is coming along quite nicely! Any news on a dyno run for it?

For welding, I would suggest formal training and/or if you know someone that will look over your shoulder and show you. I did not have this benefit and it can be a long rough road. It’s not too hard to learn, more of a practice, practice, kind of thing. I would encourage you to give it a try. Just don't build anything structural at first.
This intercooler setup is for a supercharger not a turbo, that’s why I have been showing it as they are a little more rare, especially 3” all the way. The only dyno that I know of around here is at a h**p guy’s place and when I went there I could not fit in the garage. :frown: They do have one at truck stop repair place but I would feel a little inadequate there. :o
