Today I got to take a short drive in a 200 series diesel.
Not much to complain about really. It's quiet (ac fans are louder), smooth and the chassis is a lot tighter than the 100 series that I've driven.
The pedal feel is quite different to what I and other mechanical injected diesel drivers are used to. Being fully electronic the pedal feels more like a petrol engine with the pedal used as torque request rather than the speed request I'm used to.
The engine is completely covered in plastic and aluminium, you can see nothing. The turbos are mounted almost under the engine down by the frame rails, I couldn't see what they were but I suspect garrett GT1749's or similar as that's what the avensis uses.
Keyless start is just weird.
