OK, I know the simple answer is "bypass it and see what happens."

So here's the question -- the PO installed a fuel pressure regulator in the line between the pump (stock 60 manual pump) and the carb. The carb is a Weber 32/36.

I can't see why a FPR is needed. The Aisin didn't need one, right?

mine dont have one. so i think the answer is no.

perhaps the FPR was installed to further tweak and/or fine tune the weber?

My suspicion is that there were running problems due to the half-arsed desmog job, and the FPR was part of some attempt to deal with that. I'm not a carb newbie, and the desmog is now proper, so my expectation is I can remove the FPR. Another step toward simple...

Something is not right, dont see why you would need it.Trace the gas line all the way back to the tank, is there a elect. fuel pump added on? MIke

Well, I know you're all on the edge of your seats...

It runs fine without the FPR. So off it comes!

I never found a number for how much pressure the stock pump pushes. That's why I have a FPR. Weber needs 3lbs MAX. I assumed the stock one did more than that. Mine ran better with a FPR. But we're at different altitudes with different carbs. :)

Webers do NOT like much more than about 4 psi and some models run ideally as low as 2 psi. They tend to run rich with more pressure, and it's not uncommon at all that a carb pump will exceed that. No idea about the 2F fuel pump specifically, just generally that carb pumps put out more pressure than 4 psi. An adjustable FPR with a gauge so that you can set it while idling is a good thing with these carbs.
