Hi,

I just purchased Bosch Icon winter blades for my LX.
I thought it's easy to change it myself. Anyone here can help, please!
I am heading to Utah tomorrow morning, and need to replace it by tonight.
Thank's for your help!

It is easy! ;)

You need to move the locking tab and then slide the whole unit off the J-shaped end (toward the car). This is slightly counter intuitive. you are removing the unit by sliding it toward the car. Once it is detached then thread it off the arm and get ready to attach your new blades.

The new blades will have instructions specific for the J-shaped hook . Find and follow.

Do not throw your OEM wiper frames away (or the little metal spines inside the rubber). Save them and order new rubber from Cdan (~$4). The OEM rubber is the best for all around use.

Nice cold weather wiper trick - If you will be leaving the vehicle outside at night and cold temps and poor weather are anticipated. Raise the wipers off the windscreen. This will keep ice from forming on the blades and freezing them to the truck.

I use Icon's and love them. I even put a 17 on the rear and it works just fine.
Once you pop off the old one take your icon and pull up on the middle part and the cover will come up and expose an area where the j hook can fit into.

Just replaced mine with Cdan original rubber, BEST wipers ever ( I have tried all the others available here and the OEM rubber is the best). If you are replacing the rubber only, make sure the metal spines are the correct way. Mine did not come with instructions except the rear blade had the front instructions with them.

The spines have a curve in them. The passenger side needs to have the spines inserted to match the curve of the windscreen.
The drivers side spines need to have the curve of the spine opposite to the curve of the windscreen or away from the windscreen.
Yes I thought it is weird but I did it and I get a perfect wipe.

You might have to take it to the dealer... :flipoff2: :D

Have you tried the icon's?
One piece and it molds to you windshield better than OEM.
Built in air scoop. Lasts a long time.
And they just look cool. Makes my older LC look 5 years newer:D

jditom, think you could take a picture of those wiper blades on your LC when you get a chance? I will probably need to buy new wiper blades in 1-2 months even though i raaaarely use mine, i love rain-x.

ive got the PIAA Super Sporza blades. The ones with the wings on them. I know factory LX wipers had the wing on the left side, but now i have them on both sides. Those ICONs however look really sleek, and i would like to see how they look on a LC before i go and buy them. Thanks a million.

EDIT:after taking a look around at some reviews of the ICON blades, i freakin want a pair!

I've had a pair of these blades. They have failed when I was using them in a heavy snow. The plastic that holds the blade together at the end of the viper broke on the left blade. Then I've put the right blade on the left side and replaced the right blade with my old one. And then also the second blade failed. I took them to the store and they gave me my money back.
And they call them WINTER blades :D.
There was one difference: my blades were Valeo, but they looked exactly the same as Bosch Icons (I guess they are manufactured in the same factory).
Now I'm using ordinary Bosch blades, that have no plastic on them (only metal and rubber - except maybe for the spoiler on the left blade). These blades work also in the snow.

Regards
Samo

I have had them on my 80 for 1 year in the NW with lots of rain and snow.
Still working great. I have only had them on my 100 for 2 months. I still love them. Here are a few pics.

Heres my LX470 with the Bosch icons.
I paid $42+tax and I somewhat like the results.
It makes these waterlines on the windshield but eh w/e.
Anyways, what do you guys use for the rear wiper?
I need to replace my current one.;)

I use the icon for the rear in a 17. They don't make 16 but 17 works fine and does not hit paint just glass.

I am going to have to disagree on this one. I tried the Icon blades on my GMC and they are the worst wiper I have ever seen. Not good in the rain, terrible in the wind, and worthless in the snow. My .02 :)

May or may not apply to you but some windshields have build-up of film (perhaps oil or road grime) that wiper blades just cannot clean. You can use Bon Ami cleanser to clean the residue from the windshield.

I recommend to rinse/soap the windshield as best as you can and then clean it one last time with the Bon Ami. Any residual dirt will act as an abrasive.

I double that, clean windshield makes a big difference...using a clay bar helps quite a bit too.

Agree! When I first got my 80 it had spots all over the windows and nothing I used or elbow greese worked until Spot X.
This stuff is similar to Bon Ami and its like gritty stuff that just took all residue and spots off my glass. Totally worth doing.

I've had the Icons on for over a year (yeah, I'll be getting some new ones on soon!) and they worked great in Upstate New York snow. No problem at all, with one minor exception, it seems as though they are a bit shorter than OEM blades.

Got them at Autozone and the clerk actually came out to install them himself! He double checked the catalog for size and fit and sure enough they are the correct size, anybody notice that? They do look a tad smaller on the 80 pictured above, maybe I'll go with the next size up for the new set..?
