Builds 1993 refreshed (now gone) and 1995 build up with new OEM engine

Looking forward to your chop! I regret not doing a frame stretch on mine. I am going to, and hope to recreate the process you and Tony used on his troopie project. I have that thread bookmarked for reference when the time comes. Even with my silly stock wheelbase, I absolutely love my...

    Builds 1997 LX450 Ute

Ha, thanks man. I just grabbed a welder and figured it out. I’m currently in the process of wiring up a 220v outlet and looking to step up my welding game so I can do more structural stuff. I need to stretch the frame on this and I want to do some things on my 40. Being able to cut, shape, and...

    Builds 1997 LX450 Ute

Random record keeping post... I changed the starter and it still starts intermittently. I’ll revisit in a few years. Still doing ute things on the homestead. Note the black gorilla tape over the area I was too heavy handed with bondo, and the monstaliner chipped open. I’ll revisit another...

If you have the capabilities, stretch the frame. It’s silly looking from the side. I do like that it’s all just an 80 though! I’d love to have an 8’ bed at this point.

Lol, been driving around with the reman starter sitting behind the seat since August 2018 apparently. It’s getting harder to start but keeps turning over! I lost a brake caliper bolt a few weeks ago, my first after over a decade of 80 series ownership. I’ve got a set of them and some other...

    Builds 1997 LX450 Ute

I’ve got a reman starter sitting in the garage that will go in eventually, but otherwise the ute has been steadfast. I took the old springs off and brought it back down to 2.5”; I’ve been considering airbags for the rear for heavier loads. Random pics of ute life:

Any good Mechanics in the greater Tacoma/Puyallup WA area?

I have no direct experience but have heard through the grapevine that ARE Automotive used to be cruiser specific but have branched out. I think they’re in Lakewood or UP.

I have a slight vibration at speed when the bed is empty. I’m thinking it’s time for ujoints, but pulled the front prop shaft to see if not having a DC was the culprit. It didn’t change anything, so more investigation to come. And, a few of Betty just being doing truck stuff:

Got an alert this thread was bumped, and for the sake of documentation, I did a front axle job two weeks ago. Other than that, Betty just runs (she is an 80...)

    Builds 1997 LX450 Ute

Small update, more for record keeping sake... After a year or two of listening to wind noise from a completely destroyed window run, I finally got around to replacing this thing. I found the spot welds on the lower run bracket broken, so out came the drill and welder. The difference in a...

One thing that I noticed with my hatch fitment is that I didn't consider the height of the rear glass in relation to the new, small cab. Mine looks right from the outside, but axtually ended up a tad low. I have to duck a little to see out of my rear view mirror while driving. I didn't think...
