    John Deere HIR bulbs

Just a data point here. I was one of the first gen John Deere bulb users, back some 4-5 years ago. Back then, they were the original GE bulbs, with part of the wiring actually on the exterior of the glass. I put them in for my low beams, and bought some Toshiba bulbs for high beams...

    FJ80 Hub leaking

Well, it can be a few things. Has the front axle overhaul/birfield repack ever been done? If not, better get on it. Is the grease mixed with 90wt oil? If so, your inner axle seals are shot and you need to address them before much longer. It could be something as simple as the grease...

100 Pads on an 80 hassles

The best way to see if you've got the proportioning valve set correctly is to do some hard stops on a gravel road, preferably with the ABS off. It also helps to have someone outside the vehicle looking at your tires, seeing when they lock up. Ideally, you want the front to lock up just...

White walls out, gold rims...... .....trying to find a nice way to say this........ ......ummm...... ......there is no nice way. You've successfully made a Lexus Whiskey Tango edition.

100 Pads on an 80 hassles

If you are changing the rotor, look for write ups on the birf repack and just pay attention to the parts from the hub on out. If you need a write up just to change a brake pad.....

100 Pads on an 80 hassles

When I did mine (100 series pads with new Toyota rotors) the inside pads were a bear to get in. The DS eventually went in on their own, but the PS just wouldn't go. What I did, and I'm not sure I'd recommend this, was to loosen the the 17mm (?) bolts that hold the caliper to the knuckle...

    In regards to rotating tires..

If I go too long without rotating my MTR's, the outside lugs on the front start getting rounded a little. I've heard other people say the same as you though, so it might depend on what tires you are running or specifics of your vehicle.

    In regards to rotating tires..

I bought my tires at the local Sam's club. Bout 5 minutes from my work. They use torque wrenches and can get the whole job done on my lunch break. If I want, they'll let me walk out there with my truck on the lift and inspect anything I want--break pads, wheel bearings, you name it. AND...

    In regards to rotating tires..

You can rotate tires yourself, but it's a lot of work to do something that you might have already paid for when you bought the tires in the first place. Like Doug said, many places offer lifetime rotation and balance when you buy the tires, so might as well take advantage of it. That way...

    255/85-r16

For a while, I was planning on running the 255's with these wheels: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/16-Toyota-Sequoia-Tacoma-Tundra-Steel-OEM-Rim-Wheel_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43956QQitemZ7992393504QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V but have since decided I'm most likely going in a different...

Scott has run the 255's on 8" wide wheels on his Expedition's West Tacoma with great results. Heck, the "official" BFG rating for the tires list 8" rims as an acceptable width.

    OME trim packers

I was talking about the diameter. I had been told things were they way I said they were, but I guess that's wrong if they are the same diameter. I've never used a 5mm spacer, but it would make sense that 15mm is the max "recommended" as, with my 20mm of spacer, the centering cone is beginning...

Too much water. distributor, or clogged exhaust?

Ummm.... don't laugh too loud. Full time 4wheel drive transfercases are just as prone to water damage as part time cases. Have you extended your differential breather lines? If not, you've probably got water in your front and rear diffs, maybe your transfer case. Your wheel bearing...

MTRs vs. Toyo Open Country MT

I posted this in the chat thread too, but I've been amazed on the wear I'm getting out of my 285 MTRs. On a 5 tire rotation, I've currently got around 40K on them, and expect to get 5 or 6K more. Unreal for a "mud" tire. They are noisy as all hell though, more than I want for my next set on a...

    OME trim packers

The top of the springs is a different diameter than the bottom, as the spring tapers in about 4" above the axle. The 10mm spacer is sized correctly for the top of the spring. The 5mm spacer is sized correctly for the bottom. As stacking two 10mm (20mm total) of spacers on the top will not...
