    FZJ80 96 Leaking Water

If the door drain holes are clogged it can fill up the door bottoms, overflow and saturate the carpet. Depending on how you are parked, the puddle can show up anywhere. I have cleaned sunroof holes and door holes and depending on how I am parked, will take on water depending on the duration...

    Cement gray 80

as big as you can afford lol. with lvlp smaller is okay, that is the benefit. I used a 8 gallon from harbor freight that was about $150 I think. there is a chart on the side that show’s ratings for tools. with this tank, it struggled to keep up at times. I would spray a section like the size...

    3FE Owners Check-In

@ethingnow I would get a carfax. I ran through over a dozen fj80 adds with "low miles" only to find out the actual miles were over 300k. Roll backs are very common in Norcal apparently (my search area). 3FE dont have full float rear axle either which is a really nice upgrade. I like the felt...

    3FE Owners Check-In

mine had an R134 conversion done by PO. It has always worked well. I have the factory tint all around and the old wagon kept the family (5) and 2 dogs nice and comfy last weekend on a 500 mile round trip in temperatures of 105-110, and over mountain passes. When it is over 105 it has to be on...

CDL engaged randomly today, Spartan locker culprit?

@jonheld, have not done fluids recently. There is some repeated clicking under/around shifter/lower dash that happens very rarely. I chalked it up to electrical quirk. No noticeable issues. I will investigate. Thanks for the help.

CDL engaged randomly today, Spartan locker culprit?

Yes, I pressed the switch to disengage. I have suspected too much noise with new locker. It will do hard clicks after turns when going straight for maybe 20-30 ft. (Returning to open state?). It will also occasionally clunk hard when shifting from reverse to forward gears, or vice versa. Other...

CDL engaged randomly today, Spartan locker culprit?

I had a Spartan rear locker installed about 100 miles ago on the 92. It has come with some loud days and some not so loud (???). Drove it 50 miles today and noticed a lot of clunking back there in town this afternoon, similar to first day it was installed. CDL engaged by itself at about 30 mph...

FJ80 (3FE) brake booster replacement question

just did this on my 92 3FE. yes it is no problem at all without disconnecting hard lines, and disrupting fluid. Just make sure and adjust the pedal arm under the dash to the stock placement. Unless you want different brake travel

    3FE brakes diagnostics

Will flush system more, thanks Jon. Bleeding was just like Dad taught me btw, no special power bleed required. maybe that is an ABS thing? My 6 year old did a great job! I couldnt believe how far the front seat actually slides forward :) . maybe that is for more room in the back lol This shows...

    3FE brakes diagnostics

no master cylinder replacement yet. I only see two vacuum lines on brakes, one supplying suction to BB and one going into engine and both are intact (one just replaced because Seiken located port at 2 O'clock). I will inspect other lines. @toy_tek Interesting, so the LSPV is confused because of...

    3FE brakes diagnostics

update: Booster replaced (Seiken) and all 5 locations bled again. Brakes got better but not right. Fluid very dark. Have new LSPV on hand but not sure that is my next step here in diagnosis. Next idea is replacing lines unless advised otherwise before parts get here.

    3FE brakes diagnostics

brake booster on order, dont ask me what brand it is lol. Question, is it mandatory to replace master cylinder? another $180 in parts. Assuming all gaskets are replaced at BB. Parts seem so robust and i'm just curious what parts in the MC could experience degradation. Are there smaller seals...

    3FE brakes diagnostics

I was waiting for that. I have had a lunchbox locker sitting around for a couple years waiting to go in. With drums off I decided to have the mechanic throw it in there. I have to sneak in upgrades some times :)

    3FE brakes diagnostics

Rear Brake adjustment did not help. Vacuum tested the brake booster and had no residual suction with the car turned off. Took out the vacuum tester gun and brake booster has noticeable slow pressure drop when charged up. There is also discoloration where the master cylinder bolts up. I was...

    3FE brakes diagnostics

Already up on the lift. Mechanic suspected rears right away. No friction at all when spinning by hand. Shoes looked brand new, save for a little wear on the underside. Basically I just had front brakes. Once we get it back together we’ll see how it works and go to the next (if need be) bleeding...

    3FE brakes diagnostics

Need some tips on troubleshooting sub-par braking performance. 1992 3FE 215k, 3310.50 on steel wheels. Brand new front drilled slotted rotors/pads 250 miles ago. No change in braking performance after front redone. Stopping distance sub-par and pedal feels soft, needs good amount of pressure to...

    Power Brake Booster Upgrade

what are the symptoms or testing procedure on assumed failing brake booster? My pedal is just too soft and yesteday when parking downhill in reverse It took way too much effort to get solid pedal and stop the rig. I had an empty trailer behind me, on a hill. Not sure if I need to tackle the...
