    Brakeline Question

Folks, My brake failed yesterday (Hose cracked and lost all fluid). Do any of you happen to know if the parts are the same/interchangeable between the FJ/FZJ80 and HDJ81('90/RHD/MT/PT 4wd). I searched and also posted this in the Diesel Forum, but it is kinda time sensitive and I would like to...

Do some JDM HDJ81's have lockers?

Actually, they were available from 1990. ;-)

    FZJ or FJ?

If it's 94, then most definitely FZJ.

Bringing a diesel 80 to SC?

Are you gonna be here permanently? For a short-term/temporary thing you should/might be able to as mentioned above. But anything long-term it would be challenging. It has been done, but it's gray, and if you don't do a good job you could end up getting your rig confiscated and crushed...

Glass emergency - Need help quick!!

I'm fairly certain they're all interchangeable (90/91-97). Good luck!!

Must See: Nasty Wreck, It's a Miracle the Driver is Alive

I don't believe there's much difference between the JDM and US/N. American 80's. Both lacked airbags until '95. The only "possible" difference might be whether the earlier ('90-'92, or would it be -'94?) JDM might not have had a reinforcement bar thingy in the doors, for side protection.

    Is This Part Available???

Yeah, it's a well-known brand in Japan. I imagine replacing worn bushings and even metal pins would help with the way it handles. Good luck!!

    Is This Part Available???

LOL, CDan's wife took a vid of one of the runs. I'll have to find it from my crapped out laptop. ;-)

    Is This Part Available???

Schnieb, Thanks so much for taking the time to have looked at it! I'll have to try to see if I could find out what the part numbers for them would be, whether they're identical/similar to the '93+ set-up, if they're still available new or someone who no longer uses them are willing to part...

    Is This Part Available???

I need a little Mud wisdom here! This is a pic of what my aftermarket anti-sway bar components look like (See attachment). Apparently I should have removed the bar(s) before I went wheeling. I searched to see what the US-spec 80's set up looks like, whether it has identical bracketries...

    Cheap Rear Ladder...

If it was built to a similar spec as the JDM original 180-190 would be the upper limit (Japanese people, besides me, are fairly lightweight and these things did not have big-ass Americans in mind when they designed them). I'm probably comfortably over 180 now and I watch my step both on my way...

    Cheap Rear Ladder...

It looks like an exact copy of Aiba Works ladder. The original was stainless steel and was adequately strong enough for up to around 180-190lbs-ish (Just seat of the pants opinion). "IF" this one is an exact copy, then this would be a good deal, as the JDM original cost something like $400+. But...

Is it still unrealistic to get a 1HDT in the US?

Not so fast! Before giving up I'd look for a complete unit (wrecked/totaled or perfectly running). You can start purchasing and importing a '90 HDJ81 that had been imported to Canada from Japan as a whole/running vehicle from Canada. Of course half cut JDM's from Canada could be transported...
