The filament ABSOLUTELY contributes to the cutoff line and the lamp having the appropriate pattern. I work at Sapphire Technical Solutions and we are an official test facility for NHTSA(National Hightway Transportation Safety Administration) and Transport Canada. We are responsible for testing...
Starter has been acting up for the last year or so. Solenoid going out. Beat it with a hammer and starts every time. Wife not real fond of that since she likes to drive it too. Pulled out chinesium aftermarket unit original owner installed and put the real deal back in it. She's happy-ish now.
I was having very similar issues and it turned out the #6 injector was bad. It started out with occasional 25 code and mild stumble/misfire occasionally. gradually it got worse and i was able to determine what the issue was.
I took the bulb out and put it in my shift indicator so the green D would light up on the cluster when it was in drive. Mine had burned out some years prior
For starters, FZJ80 brakes suck. So if you are used to driving a sports care, they are probably fine.
Do you have a center diff lock (CDL) button? If so find a gravel road and push it. if the CDL light just blinks and never engages, it is most likely one of your sensors on the front axle. If...
I have had abs issues and ultimately deleted it as it was too much of a headache. Stops much quicker now.
Do your brakes seem to be working OK other than warning lights? What year is your truck? Is it a triple locker? If so it is easier to troubleshoot as the axle diffs wont engage if it is the...
Clarification, the CEL comes on when you put the ignition to the on position, there just isn't an error code from the CEL. Its pouring rain here today, so there will be no forward progress today.
No CEL unfortunately. I would love to have a CEL at this point to at least have a direction. I have checked all of the fusible links and chased all the grounds to make sure there aren't any issues. I am trying to see if I can rig up a way to check fuel pressure with what I have, but probably...
I purchased a 1994 FZJ80 on covid clearance back in May. It's ugly, ran rough as hell, and the brakes were shot when I got it. I purchased it to use as my wheeling truck and retire my 93 triple locker to lighter duty (stop doing things highly likely to cause sheet metal damage).
I replaced the...
I have built 2 of the kits. Both single swing out. If you can weld at all, they are easy to assemble. These are the best rear bumper you can buy for an 80 unless you have something else custom made. Dont get powder coated. Just prime and rattle can bedliner on it. I beat the hell out of mine at...
Installed new Pioneer NEX head unit. Has apple/android play, bluetooth, xm and such. It has been a life changing week so far. Have been using the 80 as my commuter instead of my 200. I had an extra shift console that was a little beat up so i experimented with putting a USB port in it similar to...
I have a 40, 80, and a 200. I love them all, but if you told me I could only keep one it would be the 80. I think it’s just so practical, outside of fuel economy of course. It’s like a Camry that will go anywhere.
I had 4 wheel parts press mine in and they did a great job and weren't very expensive. they had a template already from OME. We then took my radius arms and used them as a template for a couple of other 80's. this isn't a hard job if you have the press, that is the most difficult part
go eagles.
Check your rear main seal. Even if it is new. Oil can escape there quickly and not leave a drop of evidence on the garage floor and not much evidence on the tranny. I was having a similar issue and I was losing oil like crazy and couldn't figure it out. I would let it idle for hours in the...

No 343 has ever outlived a 442. Sorry. Just not true. Here is where the debate begins. Look at the size of the 442 and the components. It’s like saying a Dan 30 is better than a kingpin Dana 60. It’s physically not possible.
There is plenty of complaints/issues on this forum about the 343...
