    squeaks from down under?

it was the shock cushions and retainers which were somehow in a non-noisy state with the old shocks and when they installed the fresh ones, even reusing them, got them into a noisy state -- less than $100 in parts to do both sides of the rear and now it's quiet as a quiet mouse... Lesson is if...

    squeaks from down under?

it's a 95, yes same as my signiture. the squeak has been around for a while, since before the new shocks and springs. I really thought it was the exhaust but a very good local muffler shop said everything down there is fine.

    squeaks from down under?

My 80 has brand new OEM shocks and front springs. The hangers for the exhaust have been checked and are fine. Yet, there is still a squeaking that comes from underneath that sounds like metal on metal - i can't tell which side it's on and I know it's an old truck and will never be quiet, but...

    Power steering fluid slow leak...

Hi everyone. My otherwise happy '95 has a slow leak/weep of power steering fluid. I dont seem to lose more than a few drops - the reservoir seems fine - but I'm thinking of replacing the lines and looking for hacks/advice/wisdom. It's not brake fluid, not oil, and when i put it up on my...

    TwinTurbo V6 swap?

If we get enough pre-orders, could we convince Toyota to sell the V35A-FTS 3.5L twinturbo that is going into the 300 series as a crate motor in the USA, so we can swap it into our 80 series trucks? After all, they admitted the 80 was the starting point for the 300 platform, and it's nice to...

When the radiator is out, what else to do?

seems like a waste to not replace it when the radiator is swapped, mine has 167k miles on it... i guess i could keep the ones i have in case the new one fails... for $200 in parts for brand new along with the new radiator... smart preventative maintenance or leave it alone if it's not broken?

When the radiator is out, what else to do?

thank you for this -- is this the same company that supplies them to Toyota or any material difference between this and OEM? seems like about $200 for the fan , the clutch, and a new water pump... my local parts dealer says OEM is not avail but this is essentially the same?

When the radiator is out, what else to do?

Jeez -- i am wondering if someone is going to write "just go ahead and take out the rest of what's there and put in an LS3.... much less work..." ;)

When the radiator is out, what else to do?

Putting a new OEM radiator and hoses in next week and wanted to ask the gang here what are the other key things to inspect or just do while it's pulled? Thank you...

    8x Series V8 Swaps

What is the thinking about the 6 speed automatic vs the 4 speed? Are they roughly the same size or does one take more work under the beast to get the 6 speed to fit?

    Let's talk about rear glass

Thanks for this. I guess at this price it's worth a shot, but I'm not confident that I will see the breaks visually and so can repair them... is it a fact that if you can't see them they aren't there? Is there a way to test the current from one side of a break to the other to test the...

    Let's talk about rear glass

My truck's rear defroster does not get hot but the sending is fine, leading me to conclude that the filaments are broken inside the glass. My understanding is that this is not fixable and I need new glass. I know many on this thread will say 'who cares', and I respect that response, but in an...
